Blown tranny?

Ok. I have a 2003 explorer. I was driving 25 on a local road and I was in drive. And then it just stopped going. Loud whining noise coming from the tranny. I pulled over and put It in park. I tried to put it in reverse. Had nothing didnt move. I put it In drive and had nothing. Then I put it in 1 and it drove fine. Shifted to 2 shifted fine. Movement was steady. Pepy. Then put it in 3 and had nothing. Afrer driving it half way home the o/d light was blinking. If anyone has had this problem and can help it would be greatly appreciated.

If the input sprag has failed inside the transmission it would do that, they can make noise when they fail as well. If thats the case you will have to rebuild or replace the transmission.
