Hi guys out there so I have a 92 ford explorer that makes a clunking sound when I shift it from neutral to drive and all other gears what could be the problem.

Could be slop in the driveline. Get under there and try to turn the driveshaft with your hands, you'll see if there's any looseness. It's not uncommon in an older vehicle.

What Bill said. Most likely a worn out U-joint. Get a long screw driver, crawl underneath your car. Stick screwdriver in U-joints and wiggle it so the drive shaft moves. Look for play in U-joints. Or, if they haven't ever been replaced, just go get another set and replace them. Fairly easy job.
