hey, i have a friend who wants me to change the diff fluid in his front/rear diffs and in his transfer case.. ive never done this on a 4wd vehicle... is the fluid change basically the same for the TC as it is for the diffs? am i going to need a pump? how much fluid does the transfer case/diffs hold? thanks alot! :)

what year explorer is this?

the rear diff is easy. it holds 2.75 qts i think. remove the cover and use a pump to refill it.

the tcase is easy. i don't remember how many it holds but its less than 3. take out the drain plug and use a pump to refill it.

front diff - depends on year. if its 95+ : you have to do a lot of work to change this one completely, or you can use the pump in the fill hole to suck as much out as possible. it holds around 1.75 qts i think. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53863&highlight=removing+front+diff

sorry, its on a 2000 ranger... i assumed it would be the same.. are they?

also how do i drain the radiator? same year...

there should be a draincock on the bottom of the radiator, its like small plastic plug that you can loosen, that'll let the coolant out, kinda takes a while,

more faster and effective way is to just pull the lower hose off :D
