Gen II 2WD Vs 4WD Shock Absorbers

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question, I was looking to replace the shock absorbers on my explorer. (1998 Explorer Sport 4WD). I found some bilsteins on ebay which are used and can hopefully get for cheap. The only problem is that they are off a 2WD model. Bilstein has two different part numbers for both the front and rear for 2wd and 4wd Gen II explorers, so im guessing these wont fit?? Any thoughts? Thanks

Will not fit, front ones will hit the half-shafts.

+1 Got sent the 2wd shocks by accident no way they were going to go on a 4wd.

I suspected it would be something like that preventing them from being the same. Thanks for the help!
