just got a stock explr and want to upgrade it to be able to make the Rubicon run.Are the stock axles worth building upon? Is a 2" lift capable or do i need to make it 4"? Basically what stock component needs to go first?

4" lift might be enough, if you run 35's with it. Axles are strong enough. Plenty of us have run rubicon with stock axles. It's everything else that makes the difference: tires, gears and lockers! Not to mention body armor, recovery points, winch...

James Duff makes a 4" kit, although as I recall it may be listed for Rangers. You may have to call them.
