not defrosting/defogging

2002 XLT, blowing hot air when defrost selected but not effective, a/c light does not come on, i thought when defrost selected the a/c light should come on too, indicating the a/c has been activated to remove humidity from the air being sent to the defrost.

a/c system appears to have a decent charge
noted over the summer that cool air flow was better- cooler- to the center vent than the side vents on both passenger and driver side- is this possibly related?

i dont believe my A/C light comes on when i put my system into defrost.

defroster

i could be imagining that the light comes on, could be from my other car that i have seen that, still wondering why the warm air is not defogging, must be a humidity issue in the system

I am having the same problem, the defroster actually did not kick on this morning (in the cold) until the truck warmed up. After it was warm I kicked on the defroster but it just blows warm air.

Let me know if you figure it out!
