O/D Off light flashing

I have a 2001 ford explorer xlt. What does this mean when the O/d off light flashes . When I am in drive it starts flashing after about 10 minutes driving, but I noticed if i drive in 1st or 2nd it dosnt come up.

It's a transmission error code. You probably need it checked out by a tranny shop.

it is in LIMP MODE
Your transmission is running at full line pressure
Flashing OD light means you need to get the codes checked ASAP
Limp mode is designed to get you to the closest dealer / repair shop
transmission damage can occur beyond what is already gone wrong if you keep driving it
Most auto parts stores SHOULD be able to scan the code for you, you are looking for a transmission code or manufacture specific codes so make sure they have the ability to read those

Ours was doing that. Too long to go into because too frustrated with the Ford dealership.

We disconnected the battery overnight. Cleared things up. That was nearly 14,000 miles ago.
