repair shift lever

Has any one replaced the shift lever, That would be the pot metel piece that the shift lever connects to. It is known that it will break and leave you stranded. Ford will charge you an arm and a leg to replace the steering unit. I was quoted around $875.00 plus labor. Most junk yards are asking about $200.00, just to pull a unit for you to do the replacing work. I am intersted it how you replaced the broken 1 with the new 1.

You are correct. That used to be a valid thread. Now the link goes nowhere. I don't know what's going on.

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php Try looking here. Under the sub group find your year Explorer (3rd Gen) and under steering you will see a steering column repair kit. That is what you will need.
