starter stays on

i just replaced the starter on a 92 explorer, and now its staying on whenever the engines running. i also replaced the positive cable and fender mounted solenoid. before i replaced the cable i jumped it with some jumper cables straight from the starter to the battery, and it worked fine, but after replacing the cable it the starter stays running. any suggestions?

Not trying to be a smart a#$, but did you put the hot cable back on the same post it came off on the starter? How about the solenoid? Sounds like it is getting power when it should not. Was is a new starter you put in?

i checked all the cables and its all hooked up right. it is a new starter from oreily. the wierd thing is it only does it after it starts. if i just turn the ignition to run it doesnt do it, like its a shorted solenoid. maybe the solenoid on the starter is sticking?
