This weeks tip deals with waste oil storage. For more than one reason, many of us still prefer to change our own oil. If you buy your oil in a 5 quart jug, that is a good place to store your waste oil after an oil change. However many times you may be using individual quarts and it is a pain to funnel back in to them. 2 liter COKE, Soda, Pop bottles make excellent waste oil storage bottles. 5 U.S. quarts equals 4.73 liters. Between the extra space in a 2 liter bottle and the small amount of oil remaining in the filter, an oil change will fit into two bottles and they are see through so you can see how much you are putting in them. Most parts stores and maybe W-Mart accept waste oil. Many Auto Repair Shops with waste oil heaters accept waste oil too. We have a WOH at the Shop that I work at and at the price of heating fuel, Kerosene etc, waste oil has value. I hope this tip is helpful to you.
