Tranny Question OHC & OHV tranny interchange

I have a blown tranny in my 99' Explorer 4.0 SOHC, and my dads ranger has the OHV, instead of OHC engine, would I be able to use my transfer case, with his transmission? Will it also bolt to the back of my motor?

My explorer is a 4 door SOHC, which transmission should it have?

You have a 5r55e 5 speed tranny
He should have a 5r55e 5 speed or a 4r55e 4 speed.
If he has the 5r55e it would work if he has the 4r55e I am not sure.
You should be able to look up the vin number on the ranger to find out what tranny the ranger has.

What year is the Ranger? Is the Ranger 2wd or 4wd?
