Upper intake manifold issues HELP

Hey guys . I am having issues with code p0171 and p0174. I have started to replace my upper mainifold but can not get the fitting coming up from the fuel rail. Am I supposed to take off the oil dip stick? Also should I replace both the upper and lower manifold gasket .

Check out this link it shows how to get it off
I just replaced my uppers and made sure the torque was correct for the studs holding the fuel rail and mine turned out fine. Make sure you have a good torque wrench and use the factory tightening sequence. My codes have been off and havent come back.

Dean thanks so much . i just took the uppers off (the gasket was hard as a rock. how do you know that it is not the lower intake gasket that is throwing the codes? Is it just more of a likely hood that it is the uppers. Thanks

Sorry it took so long to get back.
Yea Mine were hard as a rock too and I just took a chance and didnt replace the gasket under the fuel rail.
I noticed that the studs were loose so I torqued them back to spec (one was really loose) and made sure that when I put the upper that each nut was spot on.
Its a crap shoot I read that post over and over so I just took a chance not everyone had to change the fuel rail gasket but some did it just seemed like more people didnt.
