What to do with broken 1997 Mountaineer?

Unfortunately, my Mountaineer's transmission went out on a trip out of town last weekend. Car is currently at a garage 150 miles from home (too far, and beyond my ability to part out myself)

Estimated repair of transmission is ~$3000, so I am looking to unload car.
What is my best option, likely value? Best junkyard offer so far is $250

Junk yard?
Auto auction?
Donate?

Details:
175,000 miles
5.0L AWD
Leather, dual power seats
Sunroof

Newish parts (under 5000 miles): 2 rear tires, 4 brakes/rotors, front drive shaft

Problems: Transmission out, leaky radiator, broken sway bar links, large dent in front door and front fender, rest normal wear/tear

sell it for parts with the transmission being bad. The engine alone should get you a few hundred if not more, the axles, etc..

Taking it apart and selling it myself is beyong my ability. Is there another way to sell for parts?

post it as a vehicle w/o a working transmission that needs to be towed away..
