Description:

Why do you want an aftermarket shifter?
Greater precision to prevent missed shifts
Shorter throws to speed up shifts
Prevent transmission damage from hard shifts and from missing gears
What makes Steeda's Tri-Ax shifter BETTER?
Precisely calibrated spring tension centers the lever exactly in line with 3rd and 4th gear. The shifter finds third gear for you - so you can power shift without missing.
Two-position handle gives customers a chance adjust the shifter to their preference - a Steeda innovation and almost a Steeda exclusive. None of the other "name brand" shifters have this feature.
Higher pivot ratio
• Gives shorter throws without having to use a shorter handle.
• With handle in the lower position the Tri-Ax has the shortest throw shifter on the market. With handle in the upper position the throw is similar to other aftermarket shifters but with a much easier to reach handle/knob.
• Other shifters use a pivot ratio close to the stock short throw shifter. They only have a shorter throw because they use a short handle.
• Note: Ford changed the length of the factory shift throw many times over the years. When someone claims their shifter is "40% shorter than stock," ask them what year transmission they are comparing it to. (They probably don't even know). The factory Ford short throw shifter that comes stock on a 2000 Mustang is about 40% shorter than the long throw shifter that came on a 1984 Mustang. Steeda's Tri-Ax has a 33% shorter throw than the shortest factory shifter.
Tri-Ax handle places the knob in a more comfortable position than other shifters. The knob is leaned over towards driver and positioned more to the rear, but tilted upward to grip easier, like the stock shifter. Other shifters have an unnatural angle that is hard to reach or hard to grip.
Steeda exclusive BootGuard keeps the rubber isolator boot (weather seal) from being torn by the stop bolts.
Compact tower was designed with wrench clearance in mind, for easier installation.
Stop-bolts prevent over extending the shift lever. The internal transmission shift forks are cast aluminum. These forks can break if the shifter lever is overextended from hard shifts, necessitating a costly transmission overhaul. The factory shifter doesn't have stops to prevent that.
Stop bolts and jam nuts are on the inside of the tower, which spreads the load and reduces stress on the threads. It also improves clearance in the transmission tunnel for easier transmission removal. All other shifters have the jam nuts (and sometimes even bolt heads) on the outside of the tower.

I have been running the t-45 model for about a year and I love the way it feels compared to stock. Gears no longer "click" into place, they "snap" into place. Before, every once in a while I would miss 3rd gear because I was jamming it too hard and it would bounce out before I let out of the clutch. I have not had that problem since. It's too bad it has to be covered up because it looks really cool too.
