Pros:
Bolts right on although not advertised as such, comes with gasket
Cons:
Weak throttle adjustment screw, no TPS included
Although there is no advertised aftermarket TB available for the SOHC V6, much like the Ford Racing TB for the 4.6L V8, this TB does work with SOHC. I scored the 70 mm version off of eBay with low usage. Installation is a no-brainer except you have to use your OEM TPS which is easier said than done getting them off. Ford has them Loc-Tited and they're a bitch to get out. I ended up replacing the screws because I had to strip them out to get out and install on the TB.
Once installed, as with the issues I faced with the Ford Racing TB, my cruise control needed tweaking. Also like the Ford offering, cables seem to have some slack in them afterwards. One thing that did come with the BBK TB was a gasket (Ford didn't include). I ended up using the stock SOHC gasket (plastic thing with the "comb"). I Dremeled off the comb to accommodate the 70 mm diameter.
I received this TB from an eBay seller who was less than honest. The TB adjustment screw was damaged which made TB adjustment impossible. I contacted BBK and they gladly sent me a new screw. The screw is a weak link. It's an off, Allen-type head and a bitch to turn. I ended up damaging the bolt just as the eBay seller did. The Ford offering is much easier to adjust.
As with the Ford offering, performance differences are subtle and marginal. Do this mod if you just like to mod (like I did). For the money it doesn't offer a huge increase in performance, but they all add up, right?
Given the choice, I prefer the Ford Racing TB. If this one had a good adjustment mechanism and came with a TPS, I'd be hard pressed to choose. Because they tend to retail for the same price, the Ford gives you more TB for the buck as well.
