Easy to install. Took me and a few other technicians about 3 hours total at a slow pace. Fits fine, except for the rear bumper which will need a bracket fabricated. Fits 98-00 Rangers, but fit Explorers too.

What do you do when the only kits that can get a second gen over 3" cost 1600+?
A Body Lift......
For me the PA-883 is a love hate relationship. The kit was good and all the components have done well and held up. however.....I just hate the body lift....All that frame showing, and the stretched wires, fuel lines, shift linkage, etc.....:shudders:
In the end it was a good kit, and everything was made to work and work well. Just took a bit of time to make it meet dreamr's standards. Most will find the kit to be adequate straight out of the box.
Still I recommend suspension lift over body lift, and would have done it differently if I had had the cash to do so.

i bought the 853 kit but its the same except the steering extension. The install was easy and the quality of the material is good. i just which they had given us grade 8 material for the bolts and what not. cheap insurance thats all. Other than having to bend the rad mouts, extend tranny cooloer lines and rind a bit of the steering arm nub, it was straight forward. However the bumper mounts blow ass. I welded th rear and the front wasnt possible.

Pros:

Well made, does the job
Cons:
Not made for the Explorer, so parts are missing, need to be modified, etc.

As far as lifts go, body lifts aren't the best, but this kit lets you get the job done and is well made and sturdy. I don't experience a lot of the horrible body roll people complain about, but I didn't seem to need half the parts the kit came with. Not all the bolts fit, and the steering extension needed to be ground down. But these are all problems that come about b/c the kit is not made for an Explorer. I'm sure for the Ranger it would be a 9 or 10/10 as far as body lifts go.

Pros:
Cheap lift, quality product
Cons:
Needed modification and add bolts
Was an easy way to have a 3" lift. Followed directions and took about 10 hours for install, but had a little alcohol during install so that slowed us down. Ended up having to ground the steering column extension to make work and having to locate 2 bolts for body mounts. But keep in mind that this kit was not designed for the Explorer. All in all it was a great purchase.
