Description: In 1970, Champion introduced a revolutionary new advancement in heavy duty cutting tools with the introduction of our often copied, but never duplicated Brute XL-5 jobber drill. Since then, the Brute line has expanded to include a broad line of tools known as the Brute Platinum Series which outperform cobalt tools in many applications.

An exclusive combination of premium high speed steel, superior geometry, and Champion's unique NOMO (Nitride On Margin Only) treatment, maximizes the number of holes per drill, making Brute drills the choice for today's professional.
Keywords: Platinum drill bit.

Pros: These drill bits are ideal for drilling into hard metals.
Cons:

These drill bits are ideal for drilling into very hard metals. Some drill bits I've used either melted, cracked, bent, or just didn't do anything on hard metals. These bits cut through a grade 2 threaded rod in about a half a minute, or less with my drill press. I was very sceptical at first when the man in the store told me that these were top quality, so I bought a 5/16", 135 degree, split point bit to test out. It passed my test so well that I was impressed enough to buy a set of them! WWW.ChampionCuttingTool.Com has more information on the Brute Platinum XL-5 bits as well as other products they sell.
