Pros: Nicest sounding 5X7 coaxials I've heard
Cons: None

I have tried so many different 5X7/6X8 speakers to date and the SX85 is probably the last coaxial I'll own while I own a Ford product that requires this speaker format. As I touched on in my review of the BA SL80 speakers, my objective is to keep my audio system spending to a moderate level while maximizing sound quality. I also want a simple drop-in solution. I fully understand the merits of component speakers and custom mounting tweeters and speakers in new locations, but my objective is a drop-in solution.

These speakers are VERY nice. As with all BA offerings, they're a high quality product. SX85 is BA's top of the line 5X7/6X8 coaxial speaker, but not their top of the line drop-in solution. That is reserved for the SL80 which is a "plate" speaker. I scored the SL80 from eBay and while waiting for them arrive, I decided to replace the Kicker speakers in the rear with these. I was simply amazed at how noticeable the sound quality was. The Kickers are decent speakers, especially for rear fill, but the moment I put in the SX85 I had to play around with the front/rear fade on my head unit because the BAs wanted to take over! I was very impressed with the sound quality. Much nicer highs and very rich sound. I was tempted to put these in the front while I waited for the SL80 to arrive, but didn't get around to doing so.

I'm sure these speakers would be awesome front or rear or all around. I can say with certainty that they're a great complement to my new SL80 speakers in the front. I'm totally digging my system now.

As with the SL80, I rate these speakers a 10/10 because I doubt there is much better in a drop in speaker for our Explorers, outside of the SL80. I got the SX85 on the recommendation of others on this site as well as what I read on other Ford forums.

BA speakers rule!

Pros: Great Speakers
Cons:

I have two sets of these speakers in a 04 mustang, one set in a ranger and the are Great. They are probably the best speaker you can by for the money
