Pros: Looks cool, works great.
Cons: Lousy instructions. One size fits all doesn't always work

I don't have a MAC intake system any longer. I couldn't resist the deal I got on a Volant for my old '00 Sport (SOHC) so I replaced it and sold the MAC to another member of the forums. The setup definitely looks cool, if you're into the chrome tube. The filter is high quality unlike some of the cheapo looking ones I've seen on some intake setups. Every bit as good as K&N on that front.

What don't I like about it? The instructions are HORRIBLE. I'm not the best mechanic and it took me way longer to set up the intake than it should have. Also, the IAC tube fit like crap. It just wouldn't fit in the pre-drilled hole in the intake tube and always worked its way loose. It's almost like the intake was designed for another year of Ex. I would have expanded the hole to make it work better, but I never got around to it before getting Volant.

I've since traded in my SOHC and have a V8. MAC is the only major manufacturer that makes a setup for the V8. I almost scored one but was able to rig up my Volant to work with the V8.

All in all, I think the MAC is a good setup and is definitely the best setup for the money. I don't see any benefit to going with K&N. Their heat shield application might work in theory, but I think you're paying for the name with K&N. I prefer Volant to all the intakes out there because of the filter box in the setup. Volant claims it forces cold air in there, but I'm not sure it performs better than MAC. The box definitely keeps your filter cleaner and drier and looks better under the hood, IMHO.

Pros: Inexpensive, looks great, sounds amazing
Cons: Much higher IATs

Definitely a great product! Gives the engine a much more aggressive sound. The only downside is that IATs get very high especially in the Arizona summers.

Pros: as far as i can tell the product is great if it gets to you
Cons: company are slow, and seem to have no desire to satisfy customers

I ordered the induction kit for my 01 V8 on 04/07, it is now 05/04 and they havent even made it yet.....
On the websit it states there is a 2-3 week lead time if the product is on back order. I spoke to "mannie" from Mac Performance this morning and he said it was still on back order. He couldnt even tell me when it was going to be available.
Im sorry but if it aint in stock, thats fine, it happens, but a simple email or phone call to let the customer no goes a long way, and they would have kept my business. But No thanks, it probably is a good product, but i will never no because the incompetent office staff dont no how to deal with customers.....

Pros: never got to find out!
Cons: poor customer service.

I Placed an order for a cai in Feb. Kept waiting and checking the order status online. After four weeks I called and was told my order would go out the next week. I waited a week and a half and there was still no progress on my order so I called again and was told they were just getting the materials in and it would go out in a few days. I waited another week and a half and there was still no progress. Unfortunatly I had to cancel my order so I could afford to buy new upper control arms. Maybe if I start to hear that they are actually filling their orders and the customer service has gotten better I will renew my order.

Pros: Looks good, works like an intake
Cons: No connection for the vacuum hose to valve cover

I bought this intake when I had my Airmax already on my Mounty because I wanted to see if it performed any better. First thing I noticed when I got it was that it was the same size as the stock intake and my Airmax was 1/2 in. bigger. Isn't the point of having an intake to get more airflow over stock? So to me this wasn't a big upgrade over the stock setup other then a really nice chrome looking tube and an open end air filter. Another thing I noticed was that the tube didn't have the nipple/hole for the vacuum hose that runs to the valve cover. So I called MAC and the guy just told me to drill my own hole or send it back to them so they could fix it. I didn't want to wait or go through the hassle of shipping it back so I decided to drill my own hole. For what people pay for this I would expect it to be perfect so I wasn't impressed. So I ended up drilling my own hole in the side of the tube and putting a firewall type rubber grommet and nipple hose connecter in it so I could hook up my vacuum hose. Overall I wasn't impressed with MAC after this experience and probably wont purchase from them again. Airmax intake went back on.

Pros: Looks sweet.
Cons: MAC customer service is non existent.

My motor is not even running yet, so I can't comment on the sound or performance. I can tell you though that it looks great and it was an easy install, even with the ridiculous instructions. MAC gave me the same runaround regarding the item on backorder. I cancelled my order and bought it from Explorer Express...on my doorstep in two days.
