Pros: Light and sturdy
Cons: Caps on the ends of the crossbraces fall off, screws rust and make it very hard to remove.

I have the 40x50 model and I love it. It was the lightest rack on the market when I bought it and that was the deciding factor. I have the light mounts and tire mount for mine and they both work great. It was very easy to put togeather and I installed it completely by myself in about 45 min (including putting it togeather). Great product and I would buy another in a heart beat.

Pros: extra space, great for wet fishing gear, good look
Cons: screws rust,

I dont have the Surco roof rack but i have one like it, mine is made by Bauer Vehical Gear. http://www.bauergear.com/ . Mine is called the Adventure rak. I love the extra space this gives me. I fly fish and i made a tube to hold my 9' rod and i can put the tube in the rack and strap it down and it is good to go. After i have been out fishing i can throw my wet waders in the rack and not get the inside of my car wet and muddy. I also just like the look i think it goes well with my black push bar

Pros: Cheap, light weight
Cons: Cheap, light weight, rusty screws

I've had my Surco for over seven years. In all those years, the rack has held up well, no pealing paint or anything. The screws have some rust, but other than that it looks fine.

It's very light weight, but still has that "look" of a safari rack. The fact that it's light weight is both a pro and a con. It doesn't seem very strong. The aluminum frame (?) flexes easily. I've moded mine to be a bike rack and in doing so, added an eighth inch steel plate to mount the bike cleats. This seemed to strengthen the rack a little. I'm still afraid to mount my hi-lift up there. It just doesn't seem like it could take the weight if it was up there 24/7/365.

With that said, I have carried WAY more than the recommended 200 pounds up there on short trips and had no problems.

I would recommend Surco if you're looking for something less expensive than the heavy duty racks out there.
