Description: The looks alone generate plenty of buzz. But it's the patented SPIRALCELL® Technology in OPTIMA RedTop batteries that's truly worthy of praise. OPTIMA RedTop batteries are built to withstand the abuse Trucks, SUV's and 4x4's experience on and off-road. SPIRALCELL Technology immobilizes the internal components of the battery, enabling OPTIMA batteries to withstand incredible amounts of vibration.

Vehicles modified for better engine performance demand more from a battery. OPTIMA batteries withstand the high underhood temperatures associated with these Performance vehicles. The sealed cells make the battery spill-proof, even if you install it on its side! This prevents external gassing and leaking which can damage engine components and limit battery performance.

If your battery is used in vehicles that demand extra reliability and performance, or if you just take pride in getting the best performance out of your vehicle, OPTIMA RedTop batteries deliver the performance you demand.

Pros: Seems reliable
Cons: Expensive, oddball shape and size

I scored one of these batteries based on the many recommendations of others on this and other sites. I didn't feel the need for a yellow top. Couldn't beat the price. It was available at Wal Mart and they had a special running as well. Couldn't resist. Even with the deal, still pretty pricey compared to others.

Seems to be very reliable so far. I have had a few mornings of very cold temps and it always started. I don't like the weird size. I wish they had something that bolted into the existing Ford space better. The little wedges they provide seem wimpy. The guy that installed mine used the GM wedge and the battery moved around a bit causing a clunk in the engine bay for a while before I figured out what it was (I thought it was my front end giving me grief).

I scored one of those aftermarket billet hold downs to keep it in place.

So far, so good.
