Pros: Easy to use. Time saving. No soldering required. Easy to disconnect to make a repair.
Cons: It's not as cheap as standard copper fittings.

I had to modify an existing connection on a water line for a boiler. The system had a 3/4" copper elbow, and I needed a tee for a water supply to the boiler with a 1/2" line. This part was a perfect addition without soldering. It's hard to completely drain all of the lines. The heat from a blow torch will attract any water in the line, and ruin the solder connection. After removing the elbow with a torch, I cleaned the two 3/4" pipes, and slipped this tee into place, then connected a 1/2" copper pipe. The job hardly took any time at all!

Pros: Quick connection
Cons: Expensive

Used one of these on my buddies mobile home because a brass pex tee wasn't available at the local hardware store. So we got this sharkbite and works great so far. Quickest connection I have ever made!

Pros: Quick, easy, adjustable, removable, etc.
Cons: price

All the shark bite fittings are great for DIY plumbing adventures around the house. For those uncomfortable with sweating pipes or for easy joining of different kinds of pipe like copper to pex, they are great.

Pros: super easy to use

while a .50 cent sweat fitting is a superior fitting in my opinion these things DO HAVE THEIR PLACE, are super easy to use

Pros: Quick & solid connection. A real time saver.
Cons: Difficult to remove. High cost

These fittings are a real time saver, and are easy to install. I used two couplers to install a water heater. They are much better than soldering. The only downside is, if you need to remove a fitting, you need to buy a $2.00 tool which is nothing more than a U shaped piece of plastic. You press the ring on the edge of the fitting, and it should come off, but it is not that easy. Other than that, it is a good choice for the do it yourselfer.
