I scored these shocks as replacement for OEM on my '00 Sport. They came highly recommended on this and other sites. The guy who sold me them concurred. He uses them on his own vehicle (Dodge Durango).
I had them installed at the same time as an EE swaybar and the combination of the two mods transformed a sluggish and sloppy feeling Explorer into a much better handling machine. For the most part, I really liked these shocks (they're now on the Explorer Sport I traded in on a '99 Eddie Bauer). I did find them to be a bit harsh at times over bumps in the road, manhole covers etc, but not bad. I have Bilsteins on my current ride and prefer those to the Reflex, but the Reflex are still very good shocks and a huge improvement over stock. Much cheaper than Bilstein as well.
I predominantly used them on road so can't comment about off road performance.
I've heard the Rancho RSX are just Reflex with Rancho colours (they are the same manufacturer after all).

When I first put these on I was quite pleased with their firm yet variable ride. It seemed that they provided a smooth controlled ride over most terrains. After a summer of Mountain explorations and Several thousand paved roads they are toast.........
If I only get a year of use they are not worth the money in my book.

I replaced OEM shocks with 105,000 miles on them with the Reflexes, expecting a drastic difference. Either my OEM ones were still in good shape or the Reflexes aren't all they're cracked up to be. I can tell the difference at certain points (like a bump in a curved road) but not a significant one.
If I had to do it again, I'd probably just get Sensa-Tracs and save $40.

Well, this summer I had bought Sensa-Tracs for my recently purchased 2000 Ford Ranger 4 x4 Off Road XLT and thought they were OK...
but the ride kept on getting harsher and more bumps....
complained to the local dealer where purchased and they agreed to replace with Reflex... Refex MUCH better all around !!
We don't feel the little bumps so much and better feeling, with firmer ride.
Not as much sway. I have Bilsteins on a 1 ton dually and wished I could have put them on this little truck too, but opted for less expensive ones.
Be sure to get the rear shocks that are made for the torsion bar front end...
think the number is xx..014 something. Front shocks also helped over the stock Motorcraft which were mush after 75,000 miles.
I kept the Ford rubber bushing on the top of the front shocks for a better cushioned ride and not so stiff.
