I love our Mach 1... I have never owned a car that I enjoy this much. I have had a faster car, but I've never owned a car that was such a complete "package". How can you complain about a car that looks like a muscle car, handles great on the road, has a quiet, comfortable interior and a decent factory sound system?
That sure beats my 1972 Dodge Dart which when highly modified ran the quarter mile in 11 seconds, but couldn't stop worth a darn, handled like crap, and had a boring interior.
The same applies when you try to compare this car with any of the "real" muscle cars of the '60s. Those old cars could accelerate in a straight line, but the majority of them didn't handle well at all, especially when you added a big block to the equation. Not only that, but the sound systems stunk, they were carburated, finicky as hell, and needed to be played with all the time to keep their state of tune up.
The 2003-04 Mach 1s run great EVERY DAY! I ran a 13.8 in the quarter my first time out to the track in over 15 years. By the time I took the car to the track it already had over 20,000 miles on the odometer, still had the stock plugs, dirty airfilter and all!
