Pros: Great All-Season Tire, Wear Well
Cons: Costly

Great tire. Had these put on my Explorer when they replaced the "recall" tires. They are now going on my Jeep when those wear down. They are great tires for any season and actually handle snow really well. I loved them.

Pros: Smooth ride, great tread life
Cons: Expensive

I too scored a set of these tires during the infamous Wilderness A/T recall and subsequent divorce of Ford and Firestone. I do remember how much better these tires handled from the start relative to the OEM Firestones. Quieter as well. I was getting great tread life as well when I traded in my '99 Sport on a '00 Eddie Bauer. The "new" ride had only 54,000 km on it (32,000 miles) and also came with these tires. I've currently got snow tires on, but I'm confident these tires will last me for a LONG time given that I'm swapping out to winter tires once a year.

Pros: Excellent all-weather tire
Cons: Poor performance in mud

I, too, received these tires in exchange for the recalled Firestone Wilderness AT's, and the difference was immediately noticable. They tracked much straighter, gripped in all weather better than the Firestones, and didn't pull when I hit a puddle. I've got almost 93,000 miles on them, and if it wasn't for winter approaching, they'd surely last until spring!! The wear bars are still not showing, although the tread is getting uncomfortably thin, and their wet weather performance is beginning to suffer. However, for 92,000 miles worth of driving on a free set of tires, I guess I can't complain!

My only complaint with these tires is their lack of grip in mud. The one and only time I've been stuck in my Explorer was due to the lack of traction these tires provided in the mud. They do not self-clean well, and have no significant sidewall lugs to grip the sticky stuff. The mud packed up in the tread, and simply stayed there, leaving me with an essentially bald tire.

The tread pattern is moderately close, with lots of small siping in the blocks themselves. I belive that's what contributes to their exceptional grip in rain and snow. When the blizzard of '02 hit, I was one of the few people in my department that managed to chug my way to work (pulling people out of the parking lot when I got there). They gripped far better than I expected them to, and they clear snow from the tread quite well.

These tires are VERY quiet on the freeway. The Firestones weren't exactly loud to start with, and these are even quieter.

Overall, I don't think one could ask for more from a set of tires on a daily driver. They're like the Energizer bunny. I'm beginning to wonder how much longer they would last if I could leave them on?
