Got in my 2013 Explorer on Saturday morning to go somewhere and the display on the left side of the speedo looks like this...

display by Dean Smith, on Flickr

Tried removing the battery cable for 20 minutes to reset/reboot the system with no luck. Anyone ever seen this?

This issue has not come up before but judging by that picture I would guess that you will require a new Information Display. Looking at the parts site, it looks like you may have to replace the entire cluster. AutoNation Ford White Bear Lake | Parts & Accessories

They're less than 1/2 the price on eBay. You'll need to figure out what the correct part number is for yours based on your VIN, as there are several depending on features/trim level.

Thanks, it is at the dealer now having "diags" run on it. They've never seen this one either.

Dealer says short in the panel, wants $1,100 to replace part and labor. Found one pulled from a wrecked 2013 on ebay. Will it be just plug and play? Mileage comes from the ECU correct?

Mileage is stored in the cluster.

Has there ever been a fix figured out for this? My left side instrument panel (mileage, fuel, etc) is completely out in my 13' explorer.
It appears the only fix is to replace the entire cluster according to the above posts.
Please add your 2013 and trim level to your profile if you no longer have the 2005 or add it to a signature. Thanks.

Mine just went blank the other day. No white lines but the screen has no info. Just the left screen and it has a faint glow like it is on, but nothing else. Did you get yours fixed? Also, what about the mileage??? Any help is much appreciated. I'm already bad enough about running out of gas.

Oh, and I have a 13' explorer now. Not an 05'. Need to update my profile.

Thanks. That's what I'm looking at doing. Do you know how to find out what part number I need using my vin?

I did get mine fixed, I.E. replaced the cluster and programmed the mileage at the dealer. I had about 88K on it when it went out.

I discovered that even though I couldn't read the display it was still working, when I hooked up my boat and put it in reverse the sensors went nuts as usual and I was able to down arrow once and press enter to turn the sensors off and stop the beeping.

Did you fix it yourself and have the dealer program it or did they do it all? If so, how much did you pay? AND, sorry for the questions, is there going to be an odometer issues listed on your carfax from the dealer???

You might be able to get away with getting a "junker" unit and swapping your main board which contains the mileage, etc.
