Hey guys, just a simple post here, showcasing the mods I've done to my 02 Trac up to this point. The before and after is always evolving but here's where she sat when it snowed here in GA a few weeks ago... I've got big drivetrain plans for this one, v8 swap *cough* Before, the day I brought it home with 168,750 miles for an overpriced $7800: After dumping about $2500 more in 33" BFGs, Cragars, body lift, Warrior shackles, Pioneer stereo and sub, LED lighting throughout, push bar, engine R&R.....
Here are a couple pics of our 99 Sport. It has the 4.0 SOHC engine & the 5R55E trans, & 8.8 w/4.10's. The first is when we purchased it back in July of 2015. Here is what it looks like now. I have replace the hydraulic timing chain tensioners, spark plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, serp belt & belt tensioner, thermostat, upper & lower radiator hoses, by pass hose, repaired the rusted out rocker panels, removed the rusted out side steps & replaced them with ones from a 06 reg cab Ranger, swapped out the leather seats to cloth seats, replaced the carpet, replaced both head lamp assemblies, serviced the trans, & replaced the torque converter clutch solenoid, trans mount, added vent visors, bug shield, a grille guard, removed the...
Took a while to get it to where its at now. Here's photos of when I first got it. Honestly wish I had photos of it before I did the rims http://i.imgur.com/KDGcnlE.jpg The next thing I added was Matte Black paint in replacement of the tan fender flares and parts of the door. At this point the hood still wasn't really fixed when it came to the clear coat. Also painted the grille that was silver, black. http://i.imgur.com/369nkzq.jpg After that I added a front wind deflector. The hood of the car seemed pretty naked without it http://i.imgur.com/qTtLyJO.jpg Chrome Exhaust tip with the stock pipes with Flowmaster Delta 40 muffler. The last photo is the most recent photo I got. Since then I've tinted the tail lights and I'm looking...
I seen this '05 on Black Friday a couple days after it had been traded in. Didn't look like much on the outside but real clean inside. I went home and ran a Carfax on it. Found out it was a 1 owner purchased new at a dealer a mile from my house. All maintenance and service done by Ford on time. I went back the next day, took it for a ride and gave it a good going over. I found a really nice ride that had only been short changed in exterior cosmetics. Day 1...as purchased. As it is now after a few mods including new tires, wheel center caps, F-150 tow hooks and a few other subtle touches. It's getting there.....

Here is my new-to-me 1996 explorer Eddie Bauer traded with my 2000 contour SVT. This is the halo projection lights that were installed by previous owner. Still unsure how to adjust the levels as this is different than regular headlights. Busted door handle Torn seats bad headliner and visors More broken door handle bits It's a work in progress as I've only had it for about 4 days now. but I've been busting my butt getting junkyard goodies. seats are a bit difficult let alone covers that won't rip. 2 sets ripped already. More pictures to come and am doing a stereo modification for those smart phone guys to use it for phone calls and music. I'll have pictures and possibly post a video on youtube...
Hey how's it going guys. Been with the forums since 2010 I believe and I've never taken the time to do a b&a with my explorer. I have a 1997 Ford Explorer XLT with the V6 Sohc. I currently reside in Southern California. Truck was a gift from my dad, who got it from his previous boss for free. When we got, the truck didn't turn on and the hood did not open. Changed out the fuel pump and it ran like a champ. I got it completely stock but I never thought of taking pictures of it till i started messing with it a little.. This pic was from when I was in HS with my friends solara..I just had HIDs and aftermarket sound system After HS, I bought 15x8 D window wheels..no pics from that time
Plagorizer, I know...:D I recently acquired this ugly 1996 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4X4 with 197k, for $700. It has some things that it needs, but then again, what would you expect from a $700 Explorer? -Needs a Transmission, or reverse ring (reverse is out)-FIXED -Roof liner is toast-FIXED -Rear drivers side quarter panel is crumpled from guard rail hit -Both bumpers are junk-FIXED -roof has 2 dents-FIXED -roof rack is all bent-FIXED -Front drivers side fender is pushed out (common problem from the "Wal-Mart Kid" jacking vehicle up in wrong place).-FIXED -Grille is crap-FIXED I could keep going for another 30 things. If you saw my thread, I had a chronicles going on putting a 5R55E transmission into the place of my old 4R55E...
I bought this vehicle last year after selling my 2002 XLT Explorer. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=398181 I found this one locally on Craigslist (2nd time I've bought my explorers on craigslist!). Basically the vehicle was a 1 owner and had 160K miles on it. Stock as a rock and needed a little mechanical attention when I got it. And here's the after pic -
used to be my dads commuter on the highway to and from work.. finally turned it over to me with 204,000 and looked pretty good but i needed to make it mine.. its still running really strong at 204,000 and i drive it daily now and am about to roll over 210,000.. im only an junior in highschool but i enjoy the truck and i plan on doing alot more to it once i get my new truck end of the year.. i dont have any pictures before i put the tires and lift on but they are 33" x12.5 i have gotten the wheels coated in flat black and only did shackle lift and cranked the torsion bars.. sits decent and no rubbing surprisingly.. there i had pulled the striping off the side.. wasnt a big fan as it had become cracked.. looks good but didnt...
Figured I'd bring my build log on my 01 explorer over here from the audio forums. Right now it's sort of in one piece, but I swap things out quite often in it. Currently working on the suspension and should have some updates eventually. Hopefully someone finds some of the stuff I've done to it cool/over the top. Note: Not setup to look as pretty or professional as the Malibu, as I realized after building that what a PITA it is to swap things in and out once everything is pretty. There will probably be a lot of sarcasm in this log from me, so feel free to join in. Figured I'd bring my build log over from Ca/caco/smd/MAF and add all the updates considering I haven't done any updating in a while, so here goez nothing: In the...
