Performance Lighting

Aftermarket lighting. Driving lights, fog lights, rock lights, HID, halogen. Make your Ford Explorer light up the night!!

I recently noticed that the F-150 Raptors have 3 amber marker or ID lights at the top center of the grill. I thought it looked pretty cool, and found out that it's actually required by law since the vehicle is wider than 80 inches. Anyway, I thought I'd look into doing something similar for my truck. Seems a lot of the regular F-150 guys have been doing this also, so after reading about the lights they used, I decided to buy 4 of these and give it a try: http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/led-accent-lighting/bolt-beam-10mm-led-light/56/ They're already wired up you just need to hook them up to power. Better yet, they fit perfectly inside the openings in my mesh grille, just need to put some little brackets back there to...
Hey all, we just picked up a 2014 Explorer last week and the first thing I had to do was change out the horrific bulbs in the projectors, what was Ford thinking?!? So after doing a lot of reading on here, which was VERY helpful, I went with LED Light Pro which several members here seemed to really like. Installing was pretty straight forward but when I took the truck for a spin the left side, when looking from the drivers seat, seems considerably brighter than the right side. It didn't see anyone talking about having to adjust anything so I figured I'd ask if anyone had any suggestions. Also what was strange was when plugging the stock plug to the LED's, the little notch on the LED the clicks the plug into place with the factory plug...
Cannot seem to find the answer to this......will it melt wires or the rubber that the heatsink is touching? I cannot get the entire bulb, wiring, and ballast inside the housing so I instead have the rubber covering directly cutout around the fan on the back of the led bulb and have a wire running out with the ballast that touches the heatsink. My concern is on my long road trip coming up that there will be melting and eventually a fire started..... Thank you for any information/feedback on this.
Hi, guys I just recently bought a 2016 explorer for the family and I’m happy with the headlights but the fog lights are dull halogens any suggestions for aftermarket LEDs that fit directly and won’t get so hot they melt the lenses, there’s so many brands it’s hard to tell which ones will be best, I’m looking for a pretty white in colour but mostly want to just match the headlights. Thanks Dave
Ok, got some strobes off eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=36476&item=2442013803 cheap ones, just seeing if I liked having strobes. The wiring from the power box to the light was 24 - 28 guage, I couldn't read it. I extended the wires with about 8 feet of 22 guage wire. Now, the light that I extended wires works fine but the other bulb which I didn't extend doesn't flash all the time. I am wondering if having the wires extended draws too much power, keeping the other bulb from flashing all the time. I would try it again w/out the extension, but I'd rather not cut the wires and reconnect them all over again. Thanks, Patrick
Howdy, Has anybody replaced their Explorer/PIU's headlight bulbs (9005) with LEDs? How did that go? Better or worse than with halogens? Do they flicker, did you need an anti-flicker capacitor? Are they positioned correctly, not too high or too low? If you've done it successfully, which LED bulbs did you use? How're the fans working? Are they too loud? Has anyone had a fan fail relatively quickly? Or should I just stick to proper and expensive halogens? Thanks!
Straight from China - and worth every penny. I had to have the light tabs on my bumper moved because of the bulk of the bar + brackets. Nevertheless, I am beyond happy with the purchase - came complete with wiring harness. True plug and play. Despite the yellow tint you see in the 'off' pic (where you can see how I moved the brackets from atop the cross bar, to mid-bar), that's probably a reflect from my phone's flash. No yellow/amber when viewed normally. The bar is advertised at 10k lumens, however I have no way to measure. What I can see, however, is subjectively the light could be 10x brighter than my headlamp bulbs, which are likely about 800 lumens. The bumper lights have 85W Hella - amber - in diffused/fog-patter glass...
