I've been dreaming about this project for a long time. The spark started when I took my Explorer ice racing. I entered my Explorer in a class that was mostly, well all all-wheel drive cars. A few WRX a Mistubishi Evo 8, and a very fast Audi RS4. I had fun but the Ex is no all-wheel drive car. So one day I was reading this forum about the V8 Explorer all-wheel drive transfer case and the author stated the power split was 65-35. I had just read an artical about the new Focus RS and how it can...
Well finally got one . Im the third owner. 117xxx miles clean as can possibly be, literally. Aside from light rim scuffs on the rims this thing is immaculate. 5.0 v8 N/A. Will be taking her to the saleen expo in corona, ca september 20th 2014. Pics below!!!
Hey guys, I've never posted pics here before so I thought I would now that I got my new 20s on... I've just begun to modify my X, but I'm 16 and this is only the beginning.
This is work in progress, but standby... More coming soon. The first thing we need to cover is: Why? "Just by a set for the 2005 Sport Trac" you say? Sure, I could, but I bought these when they were listed as 2001-2005 over 3 years ago and life got in the way. New job, big move, new house, and an actual shop - time to install them! I matched them up with a Felpro exhaust manifold gasket I had and looking through the slit in the fenderwell, I called it good. Not quite.
I picked up a rust free 2wd 97 big flare sport with the SOHC 4.0l about a month ago now. This thing is SPOTLESS!!! I bought it for Penny's with a bad transmission in it and the plan to turn it into a 12 second turbo'd street/drag truck. As of last week I finished swapping in a 5 speed manual transmission I built for it with the lower gear ratio out of the 4 cyl ranger. 3.73 posi rear end, I put on a custom bent Magnaflow stainless exhaust, lowered it 3" and put a set of 18x10 Ford...
Thanks to Explorer Forum, I've been infected by the need to modify my Explorer! :D Thanks for all the great write-ups and advice! So far I've only installed new wheels and tires and a bull bar. Will be working on installing Flowmaster Delta 40s and KC driving lights this weekend. Also debating whether or not I should lower it by an inch.. I had to cut some of the plastic inner fender trim off so the tires wouldn't rub near full lock. Let me know what you think! :salute:
I am getting ready to tune up my sport Trac and was wondering if anyone has done so recently using the new E3 spark plug? Also if installing New spark plug wires which ones to use Thanks, Dave
old pics need to update...

Changing spark plugs at 107,00 miles. Would appreciate some advice as to where to find them, I hear they are to be removed rather delicately from under the coils. Where do we find the coils???? We are used to workin on much older engines, thanks
