Yeah-
My fuel pump relay socket got a bit shaken up, it started acting up yesterday and completely failed this AM
I was getting the new pump out-when I decided to mess with the power dist box.
Then, after replacing the end link bushings and driving to Ridgeway I looked for the rattling sound from the front, and found a missing caliper bolt on the passenger side. I guess that would account for the brake fade on Black bear huh?
Boy, did the Mounty, and I get a shakedown on this trip. Lots for me to learn,

We are now in Manitou Springs, Co for a nice rest-then on to Kansas I guess.

Ted (tbars4) stuck with us the whole time-even ran me to the hardware store for more bolts. I really appreciate that. At no time did we feel stranded or even in trouble. Thanks Ted!!!!

A few good shots...

1) Shot for Froader
2) Flowers on approach to Black Bear
3) Start of descent on 'the steps' on Black Bear pass
4) Infamous corner on Black Bear

Thanks again for everyone who let me ride shotgun on the trails (even if I did weigh your rig down Josh :p:) I had a great weekend and thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with all of y'all.

And apparently my punishment for selling the Mounty was getting left on the trail to take the group shot.

I swear getting these guys to line up was like herding cats...

Imagine being right here, and, oops, no brakes.
The picture doesn't really show how steep it is there.
Yours truly would have poo'd the pants, but the cheeks were too tight-:D
Sheri couldn't feel the danger because she wasn't driving-

- JTSMITH as he commandeered a Mercury Mountaineer around the pictured turn

Ok, I guess you had to be there-
I am still not over it-it was the most thrilling moment of my life. :D
Oh I totally believe you. Remember, I'm the sissy who chose to walk across this little thing instead of riding :( :

thanks for taking all those pics guys! Sure wish we would have made this :(

JT Did you think of pushing the e brake?
Not sure it would stop you but maybe help???

That is SCARY!!
In Moab, T haven, heck, any trail........brakes are the most important thing you have
Few would have predicted your trucks low stall converter and 347 would push through the low range 4x4, if you talk to Gerald Garret on this subject he will tell you test test test your equipment before you hit the big trails...
I always try to get on some medium hill climbs and decents, a few twisty spots, etc before I hit the road in the truck to go 4x4ing 600 miles away, after every project/upgrade testing is required :) If you feel the drivetrain in my 96 Spolder would better suit your new 4x4ing addiction, come on over I'd gladly swap your 347 into my baby LOL

So glad you guys made it safe! Scary, 4x4ing is nothing to take lightly, even the trails that are basically rough roads can bite ya
