Hello,

I have a 2000 Mounty 5.0 and need to replace the motor mounts. She's got 170K on her and the motor shimmies a little at idle. DRIVES ME CRAZY...

Question is: can I do this myself without a lift or cherry picker or do I need to take it in. If I can do it myself, any pointers would be helpful.

Thanks!

WOW! No answers in over 3 years? I've got to figure out the same problem on my '99 Mounaineer. In studying the situation, the upper nuts are easily accessed by removing the mud/rain guard flaps from the fenderwells. But I still gotta figure out how to get at the lower nuts since the front differential (and mounting bracket) is in the way to access the lower nut on the driver's side and the inner CV joint blocks access to the passenger side.
The engine has to be lifted and supported, but I don't see any places to grab it from above so careful positioning of wood blocks to distribute the weight against the oilpan from underneath on a floorjack will have to do.

Oops, trying to hurry and find an answer... I misread it.
