I recently had the ABS light come on and have been having a weird growl/grind/hum coming from the front end so I decided to replace the front hub assemblies.

Once I got the truck into the garage and on 4 jack stands I figured why just do the wheel hubs, may as well do some maintenance so I did the following today...

1) Front Wheel Hub Assemblies
2) Drained Transfer Case - Filled with B&M Synthetic Trick Shift ATF
3) Drained Rear Diff - Filled with Royal Purple Synthetic 75w140 Gear Oil
4) Dropped Rear Driveshaft and greased slip shaft (no more clunk:thumbsup:)
5) New Energy Suspension Front End Links (passenger side was missing)
6) Drained Power Steering Fluid - Filled with B&M Synthetic Trick Shift ATF
7) Replaced all four shocks with KYB GR-2's - Excellent ride now:D

The only real PITA was replacing the rear shocks, 2hrs to remove the old ones and 15 minutes to put the new ones on:rolleyes:. Other than that is was an enjoyable day in the garage and the truck drives SO much better now.

So what did you do this weekend?

Got my totaled Ex out of the towing storage yard (at a huge expense) and got it into a neighbors backyard.

That sucks, are you going to be using it as a parts vehicle for your next Explorer?

Installed a 3 inch body lift

took alitle trail ride with my mounty... one of my HID ballasts died.. drove to bass pro shop..haha

Nice thread! The Mazda forums I use to frequent had these and they'd turn into a several thousand replies type thread.

For me, I'm still technically considered stock, but soon to be moving into the modified category-
-Changed the fuel filter
-Dropped the transmission pan, changed the filter, cleaned the magnet, new gasket, added 4 qts of Merc V and a 10 oz bottle of Lubegard friction modifier.
-Hardwired my Escort Passport 8500 X50

This coming Friday will be a major wrenching day:
-install add-a-leaf to rear
-TT lift to match
-new Rancho RS5000 shocks all around

I've also got new rear brakes (rotors and pads) to install along with a new left front wheel bearing assembly.

tabezic- I was recently in Shelby Township for work. I was visiting a tooling vendor for a big project of ours.

When I did my add-a-leaf it was a pretty simple job and it got me half way to having a level truck. It lifted the rear end 1-1.5" but I started with 3" of sag so I made my own shackles and gained the other 1.5" that I needed.

More then likely. I'll probably be posting it up for part here as well.

I just read your RIP thread, that sucks. It looked like you were well on your way to modding your truck. Time to get a new one and start over, glad your ok.

Changed out rear wheel bearings and seals to rectify a noise. Winds up being the pinion bearings. Swapping out rear end next weekend.

2timingtom,

whatsur ex look like? i might have seen it. im alwais out and driving around. i might have seen it.

We wheeled it at Truckhaven, hoping to see more of you out there next run.

Went froading at badlands park to try out the new transfer case!

removed almost all of my front end , to check all the ball joints, tie rods, steering rack, and brakes.
while i was in there i took out my front diff to check my lift brackets to see if they were okay.
2 of the brackets were bent so i straightened them and than put it all back together, and now it is all straight,, ,

and last night i put a ball joint in my aerostar , in 35 minutes..

1999 Explorer 4x4

This weekend I took on the Rodriguez Canyon trail in Julian, CA with some friends...had a blast, they said it's LVL 5 in some places, but I'm too new to know the difference, either way I am stoked and had a blast.

I just got myself a 2000 XLT 4x4. Going to be swapping over the mods. May see if the sport still runs, if so I'll throw her up, and see if anyone wants a "lightly used" Sport. :D
