well I've finally bit the bullet SAS

well I've finally bit the bullet: Curtis' 3-link SAS

I'll be picking up my D30 from a TJ with 4.10s (to match the 4.10 i already have) plus, its 50% day at the JY :D i will be making my own custom three link, using ballistic joints on the frame side & Rustys superflex joints at the axle, lower links are 1.5" DOM .120 wall sleeved with 2" DOM .250 Wall. Third link is 1.5" DOM .120 wall with a Creeper joint at the frame and stock jk end on the axle.

Ill also be using an adjustable track bar from an XJ that im getting for free, the coil buckets are from ballistic and the shock towers are f250 ones. The steering box will be from an ifs Toyota with a trailgear pitman arm, the return line is stock while the stock pressure line was lengthened, ill also be using a hybrid shaft from the toy box and stock explorer shafts. all the steering on the axle will be chevy TRE over the knuckle with 1.25" .250 tubing and the drag link is the same tube with 3/4 heims. Brake lines will be from Rustys, going to use Wild Horse EB 5.5" springs and shocks are Bilstein 5125 12" travel and im going to SOA the rear with the stock shocks mounted in the top sway bar hole.

I moved the axle 3" forward for a wheel base of 105" and will be using a hybrid driveshaft from a first gen and my 95-96 front shaft. Now has 35/1250/15 new MTR's on 15x10 black wheels (don't know what kind) and kept the spacers up front.

And my 4.10 front diff and 2" body lift with custom brackets will be for sale, if anyone is interested PM me

I'm planning a similar swap with my sport. I'll be watching to soak up knowledge and whatnot :D

mine may not be the best to follow since its gone so many different freakin directions  who knows about 1 ton steering on a d30 lol. looks like im building this thing so i can roll a d60 under it pretty easily.

i realized i fried the ecu by welding with the battery hooked up, noob mistake i know. but the new one i ordered today. ill be getting the rest of the steering tomorrow, just waiting on a tube adapter, damn KOH closed down nearly every 4wd shop. got new calipers from Napa for $100 with the brackets.

Ill prob pick up a set of these while im at ECGS http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-134159-toyota-truck-and-4runner-rock-sliders.html

planning to have her up and running this week/weekend. seems like every step forward i have to go back two

ive adapted the slowly but surely train of thought. steering is done besides the pressure line & intermediate shaft which just need to be installed. and i have to get my pcm programmed to my pats module. 12" travel bilstein 5125 's should be here next week.

heres what the tie rod looks like over the knuckle

Yea man definitely. We go to URE fairly often when it's open. I was hoping to go to devils playground this weekend but bot so much. Having a track bar/steering issue.

I heard about a run there but I have no idea where it is and I couldn't find any info.

Whats up with your steering?

Through some research found out that the trackbar needs to be moved higher up when you do the wj steering, hence the dead spots in the steering/ no steering.

I also updated the first post to include relevant info on the details of the suspension.

The frame is optional anyway! :p:

that is why I was thinking this setup. not for everyone but it should solve that problem.

But that introduces the issue of coil spring angle - which is why he had to cut into the chassis.

yea!
he is running a lot taller spring then I plan on running
