Anyone using magnetic drain plugs?

Is anyone using magnetic drain plugs or rare earth magnets on the exterior of oil pan?

I don't think magnets do much, only use for them would be is on a drain plug so you can see if it has more material deposited on it than the previous oil change, meaning you are about to have a big problem, very rare. Usually need it on a race car etc.

How are you going to stick those magnets to the oil pan?

I didn't realize that the oil pan was aluminum.

Don't place the magnet on the pan. You are better off placing the magnet on the filter to catch metal debris, then you could dispose of the debris when you replace the filter. Attach a hose clamp around the filter to ensure that the magnet won't fall off.

im doing it on the filter not on drain plug. i used a powerful magnet so they can stick strong on the bottom.
