How much boost? How long do you think the block will last before it decides to divorce itself?

7psi it will last a long while, at least a few years of abuse until I finish a 4 link with coils. After that I will decide 351 or dart 302

The stock 302 block is weak but most cracked blocks vary wildly at different power levels. People with turbochargers have run higher power levels without breaking the block. High rpm and poor PCM tuning is usually what kills the stock block at lower levels such as below 500hp. Keep the rpm reasonable, and be sure the tune is always safe, the stock block can last a long time.

The stock block will handle a decent amount of boost and be reliable for many years, increasing the displacement and boost cuts the life expectancy down a bit. I'd have as much fun as I could with it and when it leaves me walking, it would get an aftermarket block so the boost could be turned up.

I have Marty Ochs tuning it and he knows what he is doing, the engine will stay together for a long while because I won't be spinning higher than 6k either.

That's why I kept it a 331 and not a 347, I don't want to push the stock block too far. Eventually I will decide to get a block and or move up to a 351 base (aftermarket block either way).

I'm curious how you routed the exhaust.

I'll post pictures and when I pick it up I'll post a video after we get the tuning done. Plan on starting a youtube channel.

Any updates?

That's one interesting project! Hope you can still be able to update here.

I will definitely share updates as it goes, my builder is having issues with the machinist so it's been a pain. Everything is waiting on the engine so that he can fab the rest of the piping. We have all the parts except the engine..... it's not dead in the water just taking more time than planned due to the machinist being a pos. I promise it will get done!

Hope things will turn out smoothly.

Appreciate it, no matter what I'll get the vehicle done. Don't know of any other turbo explorer currently as well as keeping ps and ac.
