This first picture was in 2007. I had cranked the torsion bars, and installed a cheap shackle kit from autozone, and put in a weak four door leaf pack from the junkyard. 31 10.50 BFG all terrains The second Picture is 2008. I believe I put in a better four door leaf pack from the junkyard, and installed a 2 inch body lift. 33 12.50 BFG all terrains on 15x8 wheels. The third picture is after my superlift install. I was tired of the torsion crank because of the ride quality and weird angles on my front suspension. I also didn't like the aftermarket shackles sticking out like a sore thumb so i replaced with stock shackles. In between 2008 and today I removed the 2 inch body lift and installed the 3 inch body lift do to rubbing. I...

This WAS my 1992 Ford Explorer. It was abused extremely. I purchased it for $600 and drove it home on 3 cylinders and a spare tire with a dump load of crap in the back:) I put in 40 man hours of detailing this thing, and spent about $500 to fix everything. Sold it for $1900 a couple months later, Enjoy the pictures! (Before this Explorer, I had a 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass I fixed up, and as of right now...I have a 1992 Lexus SC400...(for sale by the way)) Sorry, don't know how to upload photos.....http://www.flickr.com/photos/86186490@N03/

Didnt think Id do anything to the Explorer... Boy was I wrong. lol Within the past three weeks Ive done a few things and figured Id post up a few pics of it. First mod was getting the front windows tinted to match the rears. Then I added a little bump to the stereo. Just a couple 10" Kicker Comps to add that little kick. Decided it was time to order a Billet Grill too. Too easy to install. Got it for $50 from Partstrain. Then after searching for a nice set of tires I decided it was just time to buy new wheels too. Went to DiscountTire and picked up a great deal. Got the 17x8 MB Gunner 5's with -6 Offset. Had them throw on some 265/70/17 BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain T/A's. So far Im loving it. Little bit of rub at full tilt when turning...
I know guys, it's not much as of right now but I have only had my X for two months and finally got around to doing small things. I picked up my 03 sport for $3500 with 68k on it. I always hated the running boards so I took them off. It made the actual vehicle look higher up somewhat and make it look cleaner. I also "plastidipped" my wheels...for the people who don't know what plastidip is, it's pretty much rubber in a can that can be used for many applications. My gas cap was fading so for ***** and giggles I went ahead and sprayed that. You can say that I got bit by the "mod bug"...I have some hella 500's coming in, along with a Westin bar. I know my ride doesn't compare to some of the Explorers on here but just thought I'd share it...

I know that it may not seem like much to many of you but for those like myself, sitting around with a bucket of rust and very little budget... This is a 1950 Ford, F1 pickup body being installed on a '92 4X4 Explorer chasis. Also known as "Project Insanity". I just had to post this because I feel like I got over a major speed bump tonight! It's all I can do to come in from the "Man Cave" tonight when I know that a simple all-nighter would have the rest of the front end on by morning...
So I got this brush guard off Craigs List for $50 bucks. It had no mounting brackets, and needed to be sanded and repainted. My friend and I made the brackets from a even heavier guage steel than the frame of the truck. I will take pics of the brackts if anyone is interested. Took 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of semigloss and flat black. Its a custom paint job that looks and feels like rhino liner. LMK what you guys think!
