Hey guys late July early August I sent in my check and became elite. Now i'm finally making a thread. Feels good to give back to the site. You guys have helped me a lot, taught me way too much and I enjoy the forum a lot. I got my X as a stock 1998 Black Ford Explorer XLT in the winter 05. I got my license exactly 4 months after my b-day and was driving by the end of my junior year of high school. A week after school ended I found the site and started reading and learning about the X, since then there’s been a lot of changes. I have also recently joined NEX. List of things I have done •Hunter brush guard http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=155052&highlight=hunter+brush+guard •Baja lights on the brush guard...

Having been a member here for quite a while and having just recently acquired my 4th 2nd Gen Explorer along with an elite membership, I've decided it is time to keep a well organized progress thread. I'll begin with Explorer #1, which was a 1997 4-door XLT 4.0ohv 4x4. Even with the underpowered 4.0ohv and the notoriously weak transmission, my love for Explorers started here. I purchased it with nearly 130k on the clock and parted with it when it had around 155k. Other than upgrading to some 30x9.50 Kumho KL78 ATs, I only performed routine maintanence and it purred like a kitten the day we parted. During a rainstorm, a large Sycamore tree on our property fell on top of the Explorer, crushing the rear hatch and causing some 1/4 panel...

Seeing as I've owned this car for two weeks now I guess I should make a registry for it. Went to Pollard Friendly Ford in Lubbock, TX with the intentions of putting a down payment on a 2007 Ex V6 4X4. I was literally heading into the office to sign on it when I spotted this green gem sitting to the side. It had just been traded not more then twenty minutes ago for a '12 Edge. Took it for a test drive (the sales lady trying to point out how much better the 4th Gen was :D) and I was sold on it. Now she sits at my house. Specs as purchased: 2001 Ford Explorer XLT- Second Owner 5.0L V8- Stock... For the moment 4R70W with full time All Wheel Drive 3.73 Open... Now 3.55 Open Only thing it didn't seem to have is the backup sensors, sunroof...
So last Tuesday, I broke down and bought what I thought was going to be a donor for making Wendy, my 98 XLT, a 4x4. That pretty much ended when the owner gave me a clear Texas title for this X, with no history of accidents on it. I've decided to rebuild this 99 XLT that came with one door and the hatch, affectionately named 'Partless'. Let the fun begin. What Partless is: 1999 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0L SOHC V6- Blown head gasket, awaiting rebuild 5R55E Automatic Control Trac 4 Wheel Drive 3.55 Open High End XLT What Partless is missing: Rims and Tires Fenders (left and right) Grille Metal part under Grille Headlights and Corners (left and right) Hood Bumpers (front and rear) Left Taillight Overhead console Cruise control buttons Center...
