Since 2005 when I bought "Betty", my UK Explorer, I've wanted a sport... well, now that I live in Canada, the chance has presented itself for me to get one... This one.... it's a 99 sport, 4.0 SOHC... it's a total write off for the moment... but when I saw the advert on Kijiji I couldn't say no. It needed some love and I wanted a project to get stuck into, so I did my research and found out how much parts are gonna cost me etc etc. So. I present.. Pickle.. (cos it's green and in a right mess) Si

Here's my X, so far, but first a little background story... So this Jeep is what I was going to buy. I was a few thousand short of it. :( It was fully loaded. Exhaust, Intake, Lift, Wheels, Fuzzy Back Seat :D (J/K). I failed on that then looked at a sport trac and ended up with this Tan Explorer. She's come a long way in just 5 or 6 months of owning her. So... Its a 2005 Ford Explorer XLT with 4wd. I bought it on Friday July 9th, 2010. It had 60K miles when I purchased it. It now has 67K. So far I love having it. Gas mileage isn't so great, but I knew that when I purchased it. I have modded it up so check it out. Enjoy! :) Day I bought it, First Mod...An upper billet grille and a lower billet grille Clear Corners...
Yeah, it sounded funny worded that way. :D Yes, I let my 6 year old name the car. When I mentioned that it was Wedgewood Blue, the name was blurted out in 5 seconds. She's Deep Wedgewood Blue with a Dark Graphite leather interior. 105,000 miles, a V8 AWD of course, and sporting leather chaps inside. :D So, the work starts- I need to swap over my audio stuff, visors, auto dimming mirror, rims and tires, trailer hitch, front lights, put in a new leather wheel and clean the hell out of the truck. I can't help but do that... ;)
Welcome to my new registry. This is my 2000 Explorer XLT. Bought it from the original owner for $3,400. Came with the owners manual, and the paper work to prove it's been dealer maintained. When I purchased the Ex, it had 111,000 on the odometer, a small tear in the leather of the drivers seat, some sand in the back( take it the guy was a surfer, found a few surf board fins in the jack storage area). Gonna do a alignment when I get the chance, and start transferring all my mods from my Sport into this. As she stands when I brought her home. How she currently stands. 04/07/11 Current Mods: Interior: Tan Leather, power seats, windows, locks. LED Front dome light. Alpine HU with Kenwoods all around. Garmin Nuvi 1390...
Ok to give a starting point i want to say that i have had a 91 X that i had the Superlift 5.5" lift on back in 2001 took it to MOAB and had a blast including jumping it 5' yes FEET off the ground at the dunes. However it was unfinished and i was 19 and traded it in for another vehicle and have regreted it ever since. Then in August of 2010 i found this 93 that i purchased for $400 because it needed a clutch and was beat up a bit. So Since then all i have done was a clutch until recently. I started replacing a few things here and there including one front fender which the other needs to be replaced as well eventually. Then i finally decided it was time for the fun stuff. SO i purchased another superlift 5.5" Superrunner lift, the...

I got this explorer back in 2004 when I was 15 from my mom. It had a blown transmission that I had to get replaced. Since then I have modified it. The only bolts I haven't turned would be on the original motor. This picture was taken when I spend most of my day washing and waxing it with McGuire's 3 step wax system.... boy did it shine! Stock sized BF Goodrich All Terrains & a brush guard from a 1998 - 2000 Ford Ranger 3" body lift and a home built bumper New BF Goodrich 33"x10.5-r15's Put bigger tires on it (35" Super Swampers LTB's) A broken front axle shaft resulted in a solid axle swap. Post updated: My name is Vince, I live south of Pittsburgh, Pa. I bought my explorer after i graduated high school(july 08) with 50k for 3500 The Ex: 97 explorer sport, SOHC/auto, leather, moon roof, + mods... The x: It had 50k miles on it when i got it, and had only minimal rust. Since then the rust has been fixed, and I'm over 100k. Maintenance has been typical with plugs/wires, fuel filter, all 4 ball joints and a thermostat. Running Mobil 1 syn has seemed to quiet the timing chain rattle. Its totally quiet in the summer, and slightly louder in the cold weather. CURRENT STATE: 12/2011 @101k -front skid plate -removed front valance -relocated front fog lights -clear corners -safari bar/lights (victim of rust and off...
1994 Ford Explorer XLT 3.73 LS 8.8 Rear 3.73 D35 TTB Front Axle Tan Leather Interior Power Seats/Windows/Locks 160,000 miles The Name I know some people are wondering, why "Red Flyer" for a name? It sure isn't for speed, since these trucks are about as aerodynamic as a breadbox. Nor is it for looks, as this truck isn't going to win any car shows any time soon. The reason this truck got is name is due to a story, an event that happened nearly 5 months after I purchased it... You see, Hitchhikingmike, a friend of mine who lives up in Dallas has another Explorer, a third gen, and I have been wanting to see him for a while. So, I pack up my gear and head out on a warm January afternoon (don't ask, it's Houston) and 6 hours later I wind...
What better time than now to do this. Here is my old 94 http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100935 Just when my transmission crapped out again, I saw my current 91 for sale on this forum. Joe (Lilmule) owned the truck since new and moved to Milwaukee. When I got this truck I had no clue what I was getting myself into. Honestly, I purchased the truck for the glass fenders and C4/C5 transmission setup. I didn't want to deal with TTB, didn't know who "Autofab" was and didn't like that it was spring under and had some 9" axle that I knew nothing about. Here was the plan, combine these 2 trucks, solid axles, updated glass, C4/C5 tranny, 37" swampers, and ditch the blue truck. Luckily for me and this...

The time has come for another engine swap in my '95 4 door 4x4. The previous swap (SOHC/EEC-IV) isnt having problems, but the gas mileage is poor (15 MPG average over the past year). Here's the patient (95 4 door 4x4): And its soon to be replaced heart ('01 SOHC): So, you may be saying to yourself, "oh boy, another 5.0l swap." The thought had crossed my mind. I have a 94 Cobra, that could use a bigger engine. Here's the 5.0 Cobra engine that could be used: But this is my daily driver and needs to get good mileage. I work 35 miles from home. Thats 70 miles a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year (2 weeks vacation) 17,500 miles a year just to get to work. Since I'm running the SOHC on the 95 EEC-IV...
