Here Is my 1999 XLT. She's all original except for the modifications Ive made, got 163,000 miles on her and is in pretty damn good shape. It was a one owner before me, they took really good care of it, never been hit, and the only scratch on it is on the roof from a tree branch I hit on the trail. The previous owners always had it maintained at their local Ford dealer so all the parts on it are Motorcraft parts. I am constantly changing it and working on it. 1991 explorer 4x4 build Hi my name is Mike and I have been watching this site for a while and now that I have started my explorer project I figured I would post it here. I started out with a stock 91 explorer 4.0 auto 4x4. I picked it up in good running condition for $1000. Since this is not my DD I am taking my time making it a little more offroad worthy. My plans for this explorer are to use it as a weekend camping vehicle that will see mostly desert trails and mountain roads. With that in mind I am more focused on durability than rock crawl capability. I already have a large amount of parts sitting in the garage and am starting to build this thing. Any ideas or problems you see with what I am doing let me know.I am going to work...
I can't seem to stay away from the Explorer world for more than a year. I just checked out a '94 XLT earlier this evening. She's in a rather rough state at the moment but I have plans for a nice winter truck for her. Specs: 1994 XLT Condition of the motor: unknown Trans: not really there Transfercase: taking up space in the boot. It has minimal rust for an 18 year old truck with 160k on the clock. Trans died and the owner decided to try to rebuild it himself. No such luck. It's currently sitting in a guys shop with the motor and two axles. All the parts are there except the trans which is junk. Body work is nice and straight. The passenger rocker has disappeared and a small amount of rust at the top of the rear arches...
Well after parting ways with my 2005 Ford Explorer, I picked up a 2001 Ford Explorer XLT. I know who the last owner was, and they took great care of it. It has a few scratches and dents, but otherwise it's in great shape! It has the 5.0L V8 with AWD. It has a 3.55 open differential, and 107,900 miles. Since my last Explorer got named the "Golden Bandit" this one will be named... The "Harvest Bandit" as the color is Harvest Gold. Enough chat, more pics:
Hi every one out there. My name is Chris and I drive a 99 Explorer Sport. It used to be a 4.0 SOHC 4X4 and now it has new life as a 5.0 V8 AWD. Right now she sits on stock sizes tires with rims off of a 2010 Ranger. Any ways the girl friend likes to name all of my cars so she named it Black Beauty. So now I guess I need to do some black out work. Any way here is a list of mods that have been done and a list of what will be done. Mods Include Interior 01 Sport Seats 01 Sport Instrument Cluster w/LED's Remote Start with Alarm installed by me. Figured I'd get a thread started on where I've been and where I'm going with this truck. I bought it last year with 55,000 miles on it, immaculate. Here's how I got it from the dealership: 4x4 4.10 Gears Pioneer Audiophile System Leather Fog lights Running boards (removed) Bed Extender Power Moonroof 5 spoke cast aluminum wheels Curt Class III Hitch The first modification I made was to add Warrior shackles. Second thing I did was remove the running boards. No pictures. Then, I found a body lift from a girl on Craigslist. I went to meet her and she had a huge 2wd ST lifted and on 35s. She thought the body lift was going to make it sit too high. I took that problem off her hands for $80. A few months after it sitting...
After saying goodbye to my 1992 Explorer in 2004, i've always wanted to get another 1st gen. Yesterday it actually happened when i took ownership of The Black Goblin, a 1991 Explorer 4x4. :D IT currently has less than 88,000 miles on the odometer, with the original engine and a replaced/rebuilt auto trans. Here's a list of the modifications that I know of: I believe it's a 4" rough country lift, with upper shock mount from '78 bronco and limit straps the rear consists of add-a-leaf and autozone lift shackles 32" mud tires 15" American Racing 8 hole wheels 4:56 gears w/ factory rear trac-lock open-air filter not currently installed cherrybomb turbo muffler big red front bumper and skidplate with 4 light mounts (Sold) billet grill...
Blueka's "Betty" Registry I thought it was about time I put one up.. I've got a '97 4.0 SOHC UK spec Explorer.. I bought it in Dec 2005 and the next day all the timing slipped and wrecked one side of the engine! It was off the road for 6 months while I saved up and found someone who knew how to fix it. This is how it looked when I got it back:- After driving it for a while I decided that I didn't like all the chrome on it so got some '99 spec bumpers for it. I also changed to a slightly newer grille with a darker centre, thought it looked better than the old one. I then decided I was bored of the rear end and did the '99 rear end swap.. although I managed to bend the rear hatch and it don't sit straight...

So, I found this today(9/5/08) and saw how cluttered it was and how upset it made me. So I took it upon my self to fix it up and kinda make it like a time line. I hope I get dates too :) So here we go please tell me what you think! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 7/29/07 - This is an hour after I got my truck home from the dealership. I had not even shown my Mom the truck at this point in time. Most of you know my truck from what it looks like now. It has changed a lot Along with me, that was 4 months after getting out of the 2 month long trip in the hospital. Coma, Brain surgery, Arm rebuild, much more. So I had gained a lot of...

My name is Chris, but I go by my last name, Swain. Actually in real life I go by SwaintaN (half swain, half evil/Satan). Got my 93 XLT back in 2006. Bought it for 800.00 knowing there was a few problems, but the few turned out to be A LOT more!! This is pretty much what it looked like when I got it (even though taken 2 years later) Since then I have started body works; also shaved rear emblems, side trim and removed pin stripe, done a lot of other odd and ends to it. So I came up with the label, Project HEX cause im seemed hexd  it seem like I fix one thing, something else will go wrong lol!!
