I have a 2016 Explorer. I have no experience in anything further than changing the oil and putting the gas and window washer fluid in it. Problem is I have been told there should be a cooling vent piece that cools the transmission. It's not there. The fluid overheats regularly. How much should be put in when it is changed and where can I find that mysterious cooling attachment that will help with that?
The Backstory: Howdy! My name is Sebastian (Left). Excited to post to these forums! I've been lurking for around 6months, and have learned a ton. Bit about me: Grew up in Texas, moved out to Denver about 3 years ago. I'm a caretaker for my dad (right) who is a stage IV cancer patient. As a kid, we used to daydream about what kind of project car we could build together. As time went on, that dream became more and more of a pipedream, but hopefully we'll be able to knock that one off of the bucket list. We moved West because he used to be a forester, and wanted to be in the mountains. I used to drive a RWD sedan, but didn't enjoy it much in the snow. Found a '94 Ford Explorer 2dr 4x4 up in the mountains earlier this year for $700, and...
Here's the info: 2010 Ford Explorer XLT 4x4 V6 SOHC. I currently live in Belton, Missouri. I Bought the explorer off of my grandpa, so i know that it wasn't driven hard over the years. It has 127,000 miles on it, and the only current issues are a possible vacuum leak and a broken fuel gauge. I might eventually get the fuel gauge fixed, but i don't exactly want to spend a ton of money on the problem when i can keep track of my fuel usage just fine using the trip meter. As far as features, other than 4x4 there really isn't much, its pretty close to the base package if i were to guess. All i have done to it so far is remove some unnecessary badges on the tailgate and remove the running boards (which made it look way cooler.) My plans are...
Hi Im Kevin and this is my 2001 Sport that I bought second hand in Florida in January 2005 with 58,000 miles for $7000. I've had her now for almost 18 years in NYC and she's now got 164,000 miles and still running and looking great! I use her for my Home theater business and hasn't let me down or stranded ever! If you're in Brooklyn and looking to meet up let me know. Here's a recent YouTube video I shot of her 21st birthday detailing.
I bought my 93' EB a couple years ago from the original owner with the complete service history of the vehicle, even down to the original Firestone recall letter. I have been creeping the forums ever since. It is currently a stock setup and I plan to keep it that way as it is my daily driver, and is already suited to driving in my climate. It currently has 140k on the odometer and retains the factory cayman green.
I call my mustang the moose so I guess this 1998 ford explorer eddie bauer 5.0 awd thing is going to be called the moose knuckle. I'm bored as hell at work so figured why the hell not make a build page. Built by Cole's Custom Fab in Annville, Pennsylvania. Hey yall Im Onebigbird, I love my explorer's this is actually my third, Im presently taking the time to do some long over due maintenance as well as a couple of upgrades to make it more user friendly for me. I bought this about a year ago and drove it about 6 months, i got a great deal on it well south of 2k. It has the 4.6 x2 in it with 147,k miles on it. Didnt notice at the time of purchase that one, the was a heck of a smell! Dogs, kids, IDK what it came from but it was masked pretty well at purchase. Secondly, although stated many times the vehicle in great shape, I discovered a prior wreck had occurred at some point, because the steel bumper, behind the front ends painted bumper, was bent back approximately 4". Im addressing all...
Hi, I've been lurking since 1997, posting since 2002, and figure with all my incessant, and probably minor work postings in the "What Did You do to your (1st Gen) Explorer Today" thread, it was probably about time I just bit the bullet and make my own addition to the registry. After all, I don't think she's going anywhere soon. So above, there she is, 93' Ford Explorer Sport "X" as me and the wife call it or "The X". My mom bought it new in 1993 for 19K with 15 miles on it that was not her test drive, in order to pull horse trailers for trail rides. I got it in 2002 as my first car and never got rid of, replaced, or upgraded because when you spend less than the cost to replace every 100K in maintenance, with a few hundred at most...
Here is my 97 xlt 4-door just brought it home a month ago. Going through the necessary repairs and cleaning. With only 121,600 miles and an overall great condition to start with, I believe we will have many miles of road behind us. Just replaced thermostat housing, fuel filter, oil &filter, air filter, cleaned maf, 2 rear interior door handles, the truck came with a newer set of of tires less than 6 months old. The only problem that remains is the dreaded p0171/p0174 engine codes, however that will be resolved next week as I have an appointment with Ford diagnostic specialist. And whatever the issue is I will do the repair, most likely intake o-ring seals. Trans shifts flawlessly and the 3:73 limited slip rear axle appears to have...
