Aftermarket lighting. Driving lights, fog lights, rock lights, HID, halogen. Make your Ford Explorer light up the night!!
ok, my first how to... Everyone said it couldn't be done, but I thought I would give it a shot. Try this at your own risk. Start off by removing the driver door pannel. 1. Remove 2 Phillips screws above door release handle 2. Pry out door release trim 3. Using a panel tool (or a flat screwdriver) pry around the bottom and sides of the door panel 4. Slide panel upward to remove. Once the pannel is removed you will see this... the back of keypad. It still attached to the driver door. There is a clip on the right side. Remove the clip the speaker needs to be removed to gain access to the other end of the keypad. You need to disconnect the green plug. the keypad, and the attached wires. The first piece of wire...

Guys, Just got a pair of those aftermarket halo projector fog lights for my '02 Explorer. They look nice, are marked with the SAE and DOT stamps in the glass and so far seem to be of a good quality. They're all over eBay. If you type in "halo" and "explorer," they'll come up. Now a gripe to get out of the way. It took me a month to get these! I let my Paypal account lapse over a year ago because of all the horror stories and the Federal investigations into their practices. I prefer to pay by USPS money order. I don't know what it is about these sellers of Japanese, Chinese and Taiwanese auto parts, but they insist on treating USPS money orders like an out-of-state personal check, indicating that it must first "clear" the...
I have had my 1998 Ford Explorer since last December when I bought it just off lease. I love this truck, except for one thing: the lighting is woefully inadequate! Some history: My previous transportation was an '89 Mitsubishi Galant with quad headlight system and good optical quality. Those lights lit up the road like daylight and where white. I have never had an accident or a 'close call' at night with that car. When I got the Explorer, I found the headlights were like flashlight brightness on weak batteries. The light has a yellowish cast and is very dim. The pattern was terrible also--a general splotch of fuzzy light with no penetration on hi-beam and one bright area on low beam with no illumination of the curb (the effect...
Just in case anyone is wondering about installation of the HID kit on a 1995 Explorer (not sure if it applies to others, but i assume it applies at least from 1995-2001 4 door models) HID kit is easy to install. Just follow the directions the only thing that confused us at first was where to plug the headlights in to. All you do is slide the 2 metal pieces in the OEM socket. A search online will show you which goes where (Theres only 3 spots to put 2 wires... can't be too hard right) Anyway, it looks AMAZING and I will post pictures soon. I also have diamond cut corners and they look amazing with it... and the LED's I bought match the HID headlights perfect. All of my lights were purchased off of ebay. The Diamond cut...
ok, as many of you know i've been working on putting together a PIAA group purchase to hopefully lower the price a bit so everyone can get what they want for below retail. These prices may seem a bit high, but compare them to other retailers and they are quite significantly different. I advise you to shop around, and if you find a better price let me know and I'll try to work a deal through them... I shopped around to several lighting stores as well as wholesalers and these are about what I can do for pricing on such a large order. Keep in mind this is indeed a group purchase so I will not be profiting from the sale (except a small portion which is going to explorer4x4.com). On top of this you will have to pay shipping, which will...
Well, I was tracking the package every couple of minutes yesterday untill they were delivered. I had my Girlfriend bring them up to me at work. First of all the box they were shipped in was HUGE:eek:. I opened it and there was a smaller white box. Packing was very good. Opened it and there they were in all their colorless glory! First impression: They look very good Dead Link Removed Quality: Looks good, solid and can not see any problems there Dead Link Removed Looks: Very Factory, just clear. Dead Link Removed They did not change any look, just a clear reflector on the side. Very Nice Dead Link Removed. They included Amber 3157's. Nothing special just GE Amber 3157's. I installed one with the amber and one with my...
Is it true that you must have covers on your offroad lights at all times? If so, what the hell is the point of the lights if you can't use them. I also got a ticket for not having a front license plate. But what about all those Jaguars and Benz that don't even have a front license mount. I got my ticket after they realized that I didn't really do anything wrong, trafficwise, so the damn cops proceeded to inspect my vehicle for violations. They even told me to roll up my window to check for tinted windows, even though they took my keys so I couldn't roll em up. Also, my ExSport has those rear passenger windows that aren't tinted, so WHY THE HELL WOULD I TINT MY FRONT WINDOWS if my middle windows aren't tinted!!! Sorry...
