I have the OEM 17" Ford cast aluminum wheels on my 2006 XLT. Over time, each wheel has been taken in for leaks as the edge of the rims seem to develop corrosion along the beads. The last one has had a 5-8 psi leak over 2-3 weeks now for awhile, enough to trip the pressure sensor once a month until I refill it. Took it to the shop the other day and they said they could not fix it, there was no true leak in the tire, but that it was leaking thru the casting along the rim in one section. Anyone heard of this before? Wouldn't that indicate an unsafe rim if the casting was porous enough to leak air in one spot, especially along the bead?
My wheels haven't been removed in ages, more like decades. I managed to get all wheels off except one. The one (Driver side Rear) has two (2) lug nuts that will not come off... I have tried: Cheater bar over my breaker bar (tweaked the breaker bar) Shocking the lug nut and rim with a mallet & dead blow hammer. Not a single budge... And now the stock pot metal lug nut covers are rounding off... So any advice would be appreciated!
I recently traded my crown victoria for a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport. It came with these god awful 24” rims and I absolutely hate it. I found a set of wheels that are 15’s by 10.5 wide. They have a -44 offset though and i am just wondering will they fit on a stock height explorer. And if so what tire size would you recommend? Im fine with trimming as long as its just the plastic. Has running boards but plan to remove them.
Hi everyone. Just picked up a 2007 Explorer XLT last weekend. It’s in need of tires but otherwise appears to be in great shape. My father in law is a master tech at the local ford dealer and he texted today saying that his dealership had some brand new 265/70 r17 Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude HTs that were a takeoff from a customer who wanted some MTs mounted on his new truck instead. So, he could pick up the set for $60 per tire. This is not a tire I would ever consider under normal circumstances, but that just happens to be the max size my explorer is likely to fit and $260 for a set of new tires is a good price. I’ve had great luck with Yokohama Geolandar g015s on my 3rd gen explorer and was planning on getting those on my 4th gen...
Hi guys, Can anyone help me with the most optimal offroad tire for my Sport Trac? It is not my daily driver. I live in Vegas, but also plan on road tripping with this rig to Utah and Arizona. I will be highway driving (but still, it's not my daily driver). The terrains here are dominantly dirt and rocks. Sand out in the desert and washed and river beds. Not much snow or mud. But then again I will road trip. All that being said, most of my offroading fun will occur in southern Nevada and Southern Utah. I will be doing a 3" TT and 2" add a leaf lift. I will be running LT265/75R16's. They'll be 31's. I don't have immediate plans to re-gear. I may in the future if I decide to go with 33's. My main question, I suppose, is should I get an...
Hey guys. Quick question. Just ordered some nerw steel rims with a lug pattern that fits. But they´re generic ones and im pretty sure i will find the centerbore somewhat bigger.. And.. its steel rims, so i need some advice here. Should i get some hubcentric/spigot rings to go with the rims? I cant stop thinking about the studs getting sheered off or something.. Im going to africa in this truck soon, so i want it to be fine. Anyone runs fine with this setup without these darn rings?? I need some input.. Thanks, guys. Ole
Looking to upgrade my tires. 15" stock rims. 1997 4 door XLT SOHC V6. I am looking for something in the All Terrain family. I drive a lot of highway but also dirt logging roads in the mountains and snow in the winter. Came across these.
