Can anyone confirm the rotors are 14.5"? I did some digging when I got my Sport and everything we found is the Interceptor and Sport had some brakes. They are 13.8" on the Sport for sure.

not sure, good question. i just saw 14.5 being thrown around. didnt confirm it

Hey Sarge, just did some research and the parts you listed were for the Taurus/Sedan. the Parts here are for the Explorer/Utility

Police Interceptor Utility
Model Year 2013 2013
Brakes - Caliper - Front Right BRCF-208
Brakes - Caliper - Front Left BRCF-209
Brakes - Caliper - Rear Right BRCF-210
Brakes - Caliper - Rear Left BRCF-211
Brakes - Friction - Front BRF-16
Brakes - Friction - Rear BRF-1384
Brakes - Rotors - Front BRRF-112
Brakes - Rotors - Rear BRRF-92

One of the biggest selling points of Fords Police vehicles is that the wheels, brakes, tires, oil filters, and many more components are identical so its easier for Agency's to stock parts.

Exactly, which is why i thought it was weird that they had separate numbers, unless ford is just using that for tracking purposes?

Oh and i saw the front brakes on the interceptor sedan yesterday and they look absolutely massive...

The numbers and dimensions I posted in November were from the fordparts website. I have not seen any of the parts and cannot yet confirm whether the disks are actually 14 inches.

As edub states, the Explorer has a good stopping distance with cold brakes, but they cannot endure repeated use at highway speeds. I personally experienced significant brake fade after 3 stops from 70-80mph in traffic on an interstate and had to take evasive maneuvers on the 4th stop. I don't think better pads would have helped.

I used to take the lead on this kind of thing, messing around, making things work, posting my experiments online, but I don't seem to have the time any more. If someone posts a how-to for the Interceptor brakes, I will likely do it too. Until then, "Ginger" will spend most of her time in the driveway.

The brakes look huge due to them being behind an 18" wheel. I saw a couple at local dealer but didn't have time to stop and check the measurements.

I feel like mine look huge behind the 20's. these brakes dwarf mine on my excursion which is twice as heavy and just as fast.

Pulled the Trigger and Some info

ok so you definitely need specific brakets to fit the new calipers...

Where did you get all the parts? Are those all factory parts that are listed above?

I think those are bigger then the Interceptor brakes........no?

Check out the LA County Sheriffs brake testing evaluations.

http://www.lasdhq.org/sites/car-test/2013.pdf

Those are the part numbers...weird thing is the rear rotors/pads/calipers/brackets are all more expensive.

And as far as source; got the rotors and calipers from IRIDIUMPRODUCTS on ebay.
the brakets and pads were easist to get from my local ford dealer.

Total cost of parts is right around $750...

Im looking to upgrade as well. Cant wait to see these on and get feed back on it. Well after market rims or spacers be an issue after putting these on?

So the front rotors are 13.8"? It looks like the Sport has the same brakes as the Interceptor than. My Sport has the same same design front rotor on it. I'll get some pics of my Sport rotors tomorrow for you to see.

You wanna upgrade from the SPORT/INTERCEPTER brakes to something more?

Guys based on preliminary information here we can offer this as an upgrade for about 615.00 + shipping , these are all Genuine Ford Parts only

Let me know if this interests you and we will work on a kit. We also have access to any other interceptor parts you may be looking for

-Benny

Thats a heck of good price for all 4 wheels if your including callipers, rotors, and pads.

I remember an engineer mentioning the callipers on the SPORT and Interceptor were exactly the same other then the SPORT calliper pistons had a rubber seal and the Interceptor calliper had a high temp silicone seal.

Since a lot of the police engineering gets rolled into retail it may be all the same now.

Ill have to agree; the seals on mine are a distinct red silicone

I am also very interested my 2011 cant keep up with my braking and are super warped.
