2020 Explorer accessories/parts?

EDIT: I stand corrected. A fabric cargo cover is included. In a plastic bag I didn’t open until today. Has loops at the corners to hang on 4 hooks on the interior side trim panels at about the height of the 3rd row seatbacks.

Is that the fabric with the long zipper pocket and loops on the corners? I thought that was a cargo net of sorts made to hang vertically on the hooks at the back of the hatch, so as to keep contents in. I don't believe my ST came with a cargo shade cover.

I haven't yet taken delivery of my 2020 Explorer, but I purchased my first accessory. It's a genuine Ford trailer-hitch cap to plug the ugly, open receiver you'll see on the tail of every Explorer equipped with the towing package. If you want one, the Ford part number is 1L2Z-17F000-CA.

I have a 2016 Sport with the tow package and my hitch is hidden in the bumper behind a long piece of plastic, about 16 inches wide, so that it looks like part of the bumper. Do they not do this anymore? Is the hitch just exposed on new models?

Yes. Ugly trailer-hitch receiver is exposed on 2020 Explorers. See photo in post #13 above.

Not on my 2013 explorer, mine comes with the cover tied in with the bumper

My mistake. I should have said, "... cap to plug the ugly, open receiver you'll see on the tail of every 2020 Explorer equipped with the towing package."

Our 2018 sport has a cover so you wouldn’t even be able to tell it was there. Did they change the design so it’s not hidden anymore?

Yes, it does double duty. Note the four hooks set horizontally on the side trim panels at the height of the seatbacks. It appears to only go on one way as it’s not perfectly rectangular.

It's like little Jr. is only in the second trimester, and you're already shoppin' for bicycles.. :bounce:..

Mishmosh - don't know if this helps:

It seems as if this is not one of those 'pull towards the back' [apologies for lack of correct terminology] shades which would cover everything even with the 3rd row folded down. It will clip into the sides but will only cover the area which would have been visible behind the 3rd row, thereby leaving the open area of the folded 3rd row still visible.

“Roller shade”. Came standard in my 1982 Escort. Worked great. Would have been a nice feature now, even as an aftermarket part. Maybe they assume it’s not needed with the dark tint windows.

I’m going to order the plug.

Same. (Can the cover be easily stolen?)

I got this non-Ford cap from Amazon and installed it today:

Soft heavy duty rubber and on a tether so it won’t get lost. Less than the factory part.

I’m not patient when it comes to little
Piccadilly’s like covering that rear-hole exposed to the world. Gonna grab one, thanks!

Doing anything special with the rear license plate cover? I was thinking about this but would have preferred the “performance” be in red.

Seriously thinking about forking out the $150/5yrs for this plate.

I keep it simple with license plates and always remove the dealer frame if they’ve put one on.

My ST came with a front license plate frame which isn’t needed in Michigan. Fine with me as I could put on my own plate.

(I’ve since replaced the silver screws with black).

Have you considered changing the 'blue oval' with a black one?
