i have a 2002 explorer 4.6 V8. It was given to us for free and we are trying to get it to run.

It cranks but will not start

Here’s what I know
-replaced and checked all fuses and relays
-new fuel pump and filter
-good fuel pressure
-fuel in cylinders mists out when plugs removed
-new plugs and coil packs
-has good spark
-new battery
-injectors cleaned and checked w/ noid light
-good compression in 7 of 8 cyl

Has fuel and spark but will not fire

Any thoughts?

what was compression in the 8th cyl?
Could the timing be off?
How does it crank? Is it a healthy crank, meaning it is spinning fast enough
Is there a security key on the 02? Does the theft light on the dash flash or go out when cranking?

If it has good spark and fuel, cranks over fine and does not run, without knowing actual cranking compression numbers, then we must consider this:
1) is the spark timing accurate?
2) is the fuel trim accurate ?
3) is the engine flooded?
4) is the engine actually getting air?

exactly unless the airbox is plugged or the exhaust is plugged I would think your engine has jumped time

Going to swap timing chains. It has health crank and no theft light comes on. When placing hand over intake the air flow seems inadequate
