    The new fuel pump had a bad fuel pressure regulator. Replaced the pump and all is well (operating pressure 70 psi). Not O'Reilly Autos replacement pump's fuel level sending unit would not fit through the tank's hole so don't throw out original in case you need parts.

    I have a 2001 explorer xlt. I put in a new fuel pump. There is no fuel pump noise when the key is turned to on. There is no fuel pressure as well. Cranking the car over and over will get the car to start. The fuel pressure is the 28. Why would the primer not be working?
