I trust logic and science and enjoy applying these disciplines towards mechanics.

I prefer an overly complex answer compared to a simplified or lacking one.

I can't afford to pay someone else to maintain my vehicle, and why would I want to?

I learned basic auto mechanics from high school shop and my first car, a 1984 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade with a dozen modifications. I'm playing catchup to fully understand and maintain the electronic computer controls and emissions systems on my 2005 Explorer with 165k miles. I need this vehicle to last at least another 50k so I'm preventatively tackling everything I can before something major fails. I have access to a lift now so the floodgates are open!
