Hi!

Does anyone know how the auto door locking can be disabled?
According to my manual this must me done at a Ford dealer.
Is that the only way to get rid of this function?

Best regards

i didnt know that there was a auto door locking feature lol. im sure it can be done without takeing it to a ford dealer. could call the dealer and ask how much they will charge maybe thats a faster way. i dunno

According to my handbook (98) you can turn it off yourself. Here is the procedure.

Steps 1-5 must be completed within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated. Before repeating wait 30 seconds.

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Press the door unlock button 3 times.
3. Turn the ignition off.
4. Press the door unlock button 3 times.
5. Turn the ignition on; the horn will sound.
6. Press the unlock button, then press the lock button. The horn will sound once if the autolock system has been deactivated or twice (one short, one long) if the system has been activated.
7. Turn the ignition off. The horn will sound once to confirm the procedure is complete.

Hope that works for you.

pretty neat feature, i could see where it would get annoying tho, good luck

Can this be done at home with a 2002? There is no info on this in the manual.

Hi!

The method Howard described above worked just fine on my '99 Explorer.
I wonder why Ford didn't write that description in the handbook?

Thanks Howard!
