Check Engine Light Came On

The check engine light came on my 99 explorer xls while on my way to school. I scanned it and it came out with this "Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak)", what does that mean and what could be the problem? Its a 4.0 ohv 4x4.

Quite often that's caused by a gas cap that isn't properly seated. I'd start there.

^^^^ yup, it usually means your gas cap isnt on correctly. take it off and put it back on again

Wow thats crazy that the check engine light would come one b/c of that. I tried it and now the light is off. Well see if it stays off. Thanks Guys.
