Pulling front 4x4 stuff

I got a 99 xls 4x4 and am dropping it. Can I just pull the front diff and cv joints or do they hold the wheels on or something. Eventually getting bagged but it will be a slow process.

To go to 2wd requires different front spindels-removal of front diffy-removal of transfer case, and a 2wd transmission. You will also need a longer rear drive shaft. Best to start with a 2wd.

Thanks for the info. this is the reason I joined this site. I have a 95 4wd I picked up with a blown motor for $100.00. I want to lower it and drop in a 5.0 engine and do a monster stereo and fiberglass interior.

You may could find someone willing to swap you- those that want 4x4 and have 2x4, it is quite a bit of work though. And swapping transmissions is a dangerous proposition for both parties.

oh its possible, just gotta search around the junk yards and a find a 2wd explorer to score the parts off of..... ill be doing a 2wd swap in the summer, i dont know if ill just get some bags from the get go or what.
